Shira Griffithshe/they
Shira is a senior at the University of Redlands, class of 2023. As a Jewish-American, Shira spends a lot of time combatting antisemitism and educating on Judaism, and has compiled an educational guide for people to learn from. They are double-majoring in Political Science and in Public Policy, so the political world is very interesting to her.
High school is where Shira began her advocacy work. Their junior year, Shira led her school in a walkout on National Walkout Day (2018), in protest of gun violence. Her work, among other San Diego high school students' was featured on NBC San Diego. Her senior year, she worked with her school's ASB to educate on antisemitism after the shooting at the Chabad in Poway, and was featured in an Affinity Magazine piece. One of Shira's coolest moments was being interviewed, along with her father, by her university after former NASA Astronaut Leland Melvin spoke. Overall, Shira is very passionate about advocating for equality and equity for all and combatting discrimination for all. Their main focuses are combatting antisemitism, racism, anti-LGBTQ+ actions, and maintaining reproductive rights. |
